There are so many different places you and your loved ones can go to get help for assisted living for your family member. I know none of us want to have to place family in one of these but you also have to think about how much harder it will get for them to live alone as time goes on. If you are concerned that your family member has been falling a lot more then normal or is having trouble with normal every day life and little things that they were able to do before. This may be signs that they can no longer live on their own and need assistance. Maybe the reason that you can not do it is because you have to work, or you have young children you have to look after or just that your home may not be big enough to move them in with you or even that your home is not safe for them to reside in.

Well if you have to chose one for your family member or friend you may want to take them with you, after all they are the one that is going to be living there. You cannot just pick one right off the bat. I would make a list of all the places that are close to you and gradually go and visit them. Look all around and ask many questions. The more you ask the better you will be and more knowledge you will have on these places. After you have went around and gathered up all the information you needed then go over it and see what place best fits them to live happily in. You will also what to see what each one of them has to offer for their facility or the home you will be placed in to.

An assisted living place is not like a nursing home at all. The resident has their own room "most of the time". They take care of all the things that have to be done to their living quarters such as laundry, cooking, cleaning, folding clothing and more. If you need to pull the call bell for help with something that is when a nurse will come to assist you in doing whatever you need . Most of the places also provide transportation for you as well which makes it easier to travel. There are nurses that stay on shift at all times of nights, just in case something happens to you or some one tries to harm you another reason for that is so if you forget to take your medication then can remind you or help distribute them . If you should have any kind of difficulty with daily things all you have to do is call a nurse down to give you a helping hand. Most all facilities offer meals and snacks to the people that reside there. There are shower rooms, I am not sure but there may even be one in your very own room.

Are assisted living homes better then a regular nursing home

You may not want to go to one of these assisted living homes but again think about how much help you will have to do things. No more big house to manage, no kids, less cleaning, less laundry and less bothering people with help you with things. Some of these places have things you do not even own at your home such as a pool table, swimming pool, Gym room, game times , music time and so many other things to do. You will never be bored, there are a lot of people in their that do enjoy time with other and making new friends as well. Some of these places have it all. I would not mind living in one of these places if it should become my time to do so. There may be more things to do in an assisted living home then there was ever to do when you were at your home. That and you will be guaranteed to make more friends then ever too.
